Helene Hoenig is a native New Yorker who has lived in Alameda County for over 20 years. A licensed clinical social worker, Helene works for Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services. As a long-time resident of Oakland, she is eager to address the disturbing increase in people sleeping outdoors. Helene is also interested in single-payer healthcare, tobacco policy, food and environmental justice, immigration policy, and behavioral health.
Like many of us, Helene struggles with work-life balance and living more healthfully and mindfully. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks and hikes, reading, movies, and exploring the Bay Area and beyond.
Helene represents District 5, and has been a Public Health Commissioner for over a year.
